Paintball
On Tuesday, January 26, over 100 public safety supporters of the Don't Panic Foundation gathered in Frederick, Maryland at Paintball Sportland to participate in a paintball tournament. Firefighter Robert Nishiama from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue organized the event, which was attended by members of DC, Montgomery, Howard, Baltimore, and Frederick Fire and Police departments. Over $900 dollars was raised for Don't Panic, and despite the cold day, fun was had by all. A special thanks to Jeff Williamson, of Smokeaters Barbeque for providing some of the best pulled pork and from-scratch barbeque beans ever tasted on the paintball 'maiming fields.'
Don't Panic Elects Its First Executive Board

On October 20th, the Don't Panic Foundation met for the first time. An election of officers was held, and the results were as follows:
President, Sam Villani
Vice President, Jason Giza
Secretary, Mike Skidmore
Treasurer, Frank Snodgrass
These people truly believe in the mission of Don't Panic as a result of their experiences with helping the Doyle Family get Scott home and in the right places, with the right representation and support.
Our next move as an organization is completing our search for professionals in the legal, medical, and insurance professions and raising funds. If you are a professional in any of these areas and are interested in being an advocate through the Don't Panic Foundation, or are a philanthropist looking for a worthy cause, please contact Sam Villani at sam@dontpanicfoundation.org.
Don't Panic's Other First Sponsor
10/30/09
As mentioned earlier, our first sponsor was Mission Media - they provide the exceptional website and design that is afforded to the Don't Panic Foundation. There's someone else in the mix that hasn't been mentioned, but deserves a lot of credit for getting us up and running as an organization. Lawrence Gesner and his associate Nicholas Villani, of Venable LLP, one of Washington, DC's premier law firms, has taken care of all the paperwork associated with making Don't Panic a nonprofit. Thank you to Nick, Lawrence Gesner, and Venable for making us legit!
Attorney, Fire Service Advocate, Signs on

The Don't Panic Foundation has it's first legal advocate. Joyce Jones, Esq. of the Law Offices of Krehely & Jones, LLC, wife of Montgomery County Battalion Chief Steve Jones and longtime advocate of the fire service, is Don't Panic's first legal professional. We are honored to have her on board, and look forward to her insight and direction.

Don't Panic in the Black

On October 29th, the 2nd annual Tim Sugrue golf outing was held at the Laytonsville golf course in Laytonsville, Maryland. This year's benefactor was the Don't Panic Foundation. 54 golfers from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue participated in the event, under cloudy skies and seasonable temperatures. A good time was had by all, and as a result, more than one thousand dollars was raised for Don't Panic. Thanks to all the golfers and to Tim for making the day possible.
Sponsors Needed
10/21/09
The Don't Panic Foundation is looking for corporate sponsorship. If you are a company that wishes to support the stabilization and recovery of critically injured public safety professionals, we are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and your sponsorship is tax deductible.
Our First Sponsor
10/21/09
I approached my friend Joe, one of the main men behind Mission Media, several months ago, asking him to support the Don't Panic Foundation by designing and hosting our website. Joe, without hesitation, went to work and put together a website that more than adequately represents the interests and mission of the Don't Panic Foundation. For that, I am truly humbled and appreciative. Joe...thanks. The Don't Panic Foundation is eternally grateful for your generosity.
Looking Forward to 2010
10/21/09
The Don't Panic Foundation is diligently working so that we can help our first public safety family. Our resources are coming together nicely, and we have begun to reach out to police and fire unions to get the word out and hopefully receive the support the Foundation will need to operate. If you are a public safety union representative, contact us here - we would love to present the Foundation's vision to your members!
Our First Fundraiser
